Snow day!

I love snow! Always have, always will. Some of my greatest childhood memories involved me and my sister running around in the snow, skiing, sledding, or building forts. My mom and dad even took me and my sister sledding down the sand dunes in Michigan! What an adventure! I remember praying at night as a child for God to let it snow. And in the mornings, the first thing I would do is look out my window. But even though snow is fun to play in, it is so beautiful.
I'm not one for hot hot weather. I'm a northerner (gasp, I said the N-word) by heart, southerner by location. I was made for colder climates. The crisp winter air, so refreshing and cleansing as you breathe it all in. I love watching the snow fall as it covers the ground and trees. The blankets of fresh snow purify and cleanse what's beneath it, hiding all the imperfections, and brightening shadows. I love to stand outside close my eyes and listen as the snow falls. The earth is quiet and still. A peaceful presence fills the air.
Today, as I sat on the couch by the fireplace ,holding my little one, and watching the snow gently fall, I was reminded just how God is like a snowfall in my life. God gently falls into your heart, much like a snowfall, covering all of your imperfections making you perfect in Him. When your lost in the dark woods, He reaches out to you and brightens even the darkest of places. And much like snow and the cleansing it provides as it melts away, we are made new in Him.
Though this day ended far too soon, and as I watch the snow melt away, I'm so thankful for the reminder God gave to me today through a gentle snow fall.
